AC/DC Rock N Roll Train - ASCII music video in Excel
Download the Excel here.
Since I do not have Micro$oft Office installed, I tried to open the Excel file with OpenOffice 3.0.

It didn't work on OpenOffice 3.0 even though Excel Macro is supported. Darn.
Neither did it work on my backup Excel Viewer. Bummer.

On Gmail for Mobile 2.0
Google has just released version 2.0 of Gmail's mobile application for Java-enabled phones. Now it supports offline mode and switching between different Google Mail accounts (including Google Apps Mail).
Composing an email offline makes the application more useful. Email file attachment is one more missing feature to complete Gmail for the mobile platform. And I still waiting for the offline Gmail on my desktop browser. Come on Google, you are almost there.

I have been using OpenOffice exclusively for almost 2 years. Much have changed since with the Office suite getting better all the time. With these OpenOffice extensions, it keeps getting better. Like Firefox extensions vs Internet Explorer's add-on, additional features should be added to the program instead of the operating system.

Monitor Web Sites with and RSS Feed with Firefox
(via How-To-Geek)
With Update Scanner (firefox extension), I can now finally monitor web sites (without RSS) changes on my Firefox browser when they happen instead of visiting them regularly. Why some web sites does not support RSS is beyond me. In any case, Update Scanner also works for sites that support RSS. Great for those who just wants to monitor a couple of sites and does not want to mess around with a RSS reader.

On Muji Chronotebook
Muji Chronotebook, currently the best paper day planner.
It’s the simplest manifestation of what a day planner is all about: time on paper. The clocks occupy a small amount of space on the page and rest is completely flexible. You can write in your own dates at the top of each page, and you can treat the rest of the space like a blank page.
I'll be heading to the my local Muji store later to get my own.

A Bride For 5 Days. She's sick. Cancer.
5 days later, she died. And I am having tears in my eyes right now.
Katie Kirkpatrick, 21, held off cancer to celebrate the happiest day of her life. Katie had chased cancer, once only to have it return-to clog her lungs and grab hold of her heart. Breathing was difficult now, she had to use oxygen. The pain in her back was so intense it broke through the morphine that was supposed to act as a shield. Her organs were shutting down but it would not stop her from marrying Nick Godwin, 23, who was in love with Katie since 11th grade.

Waking Up Your PC To Run Tasks
![]()
![]()
I was pleasantly surprised that you can wake your PC up from standby or hibernation mode to perform tasks using the standard XP or Vista's Task Scheduler from the Control Panel. Make sure that you have 'Wake the computer to run this task' checked.
If you need more control of the tasks, example to hibernate after the task is completed, or to do it via batch files (command line), then the WakeUpOnStandby program will do the job better.

How much data is a Petabyte?
CERN's LHC will eventually need to record up to 15 Petabytes a year with 100,000 processors.
So how much data is a Petabyte? As the hard disk market is inching it's way into the terabyte range (1024 Gigabytes), a Petabyte is you guess it 1024 Terabytes. That is some big mother of a storage space.

On Linux Linspire Time to set MS on Fire
Here's the original lyrics from The Doors - Light my fire.
You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire
The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire, yeah
The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire, yeah
You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire
Try to set the night on fire
Try to set the night on fire
Try to set the night on fire
