Ubuntu 10.10 for netbook on my Asus Eee 900

Nice Unity side dock. The Ubuntu 10.10 still feels more sluggish and uses almost twice as much RAM after boot up than the earlier 10.4. On top of that, Unity crashes periodically (although the active apps are not affected).

Too lazy to revert back. Just hope Canonical fixes the issue soon.

How to Track and Potentially Recover Your Stolen Laptop with Prey

Three points.

1. Windows, Mac, Linux
2. Free. (Up to 3 devices)
3. Easy to install. Web base monitoring.

With the potential of recovering your stolen PC, laptop, Android, it is worth installing. Too bad none for the iPhone (unless Apple will release MobileMe for free).

I've already setup prey for my eee netbook on Ubuntu. Works just fine.

The best stand mobile stand for iPhone

The Gorillapod Mobile 3G
. (iPhone 4 not out yet)

1. A case for my iPhone
2. A flexible tripod (stand to watch movie)
3. Free iPhone app (Gorillacam) for time-lapse, self-timer multiple shots ...)
4. In addition, there is an additional attachment with a standard screw for use of the tripod with other digital cameras. (Joby sells a bigger stand for the heavier SLR).

All these for just 35 SGD (26.20 USD). To me, this is one of the best add-on for the iPhone.

A Keychain iPhone Emergency Solar Charger

A new toy I got yesterday. The size of a Zippo lighter.

Con:
Only charges the iPhone (non-USB)

Pro:
Because it only works on iPhone, there are no cables. Iphone connectors are all build in. In addition, you can charge the battery with the iPhone charging cable if there is no sun.

Conclusion:

On a full charge (10 hours of sunlight or 2 hours of directly charging), I've managed to pumped in 20-25% of battery life to my iPhone. Not too bad considering this is suppose to be an emergency charger, also the diminutive size of this device.
And it's not costly at SGD 19.00

Still awaiting the last bank in Singapore to support Mobile Banking

(scb's mobile banking on my iphone)

Every major bank here now supports mobile banking. On an iPhone they can be access via the mobile Safari browser, or directly by downloading the app from the app store. We are taking about Standard Chartered, Citibank, DBS and even OCBC. Who is missing? Yes, UOB. Heck, we still need java on the browser to log on their main internet banking site.

I would have love to move my account to another bank, unfortunately it is my operational account (giro, visa, checks). UOB, are you listening? You are way behind...
