Despite a slate of impressive new candidates, and the tens of thousands of people in attendance at its rallies, the Workers' Party (WP) could not emulate the breakthroughs of the 2011 General Election.

Before you judge, this is a non-partisan video. The only SG50 video that makes me cry, not in sadness but in pride! If you have ever interacted with them you will know that it is not a bad thing. In many cases working still gives them a reason to live and contribute and not only for money and necessity. True, some may need assistance here and there and thanks to volunteers (again non-partisan) but one should never deny them of their pride and dignity. SG50 should include them, as this video has done.

Bringing balance to the force. Well respected on both sides except this statement surprised me. "In Singapore, by contrast, there is a sad lack of basic budget knowledge, even within parliament or government about our true fiscal position, as much of the data is secret or confidential and hence not sufficiently rigorously discussed." By not opening up the data, this is the result and not unwarranted fear of misappropriation.

I guess I am out of touch. I thought initially this GE will swing more in favor of the incumbent. To be fair there are improvements made after the last GE and the pioneer generation package should placate the older voters who has switch sides during the last GE. Apparently this doesn't seem to be the sentiment. More voices from the pro incumbent crowd (most likely signalling fear), angrier opposition (warranted or otherwise) again could amount to not much during polling day. Impossible to see, the future is.. -Yoda Till Saturday then.....
No Easy Win for Singapore’s PAP
All signs are pointing to a tough election for Singapore’s ruling People’s Action Party.
I love this. Another non-partisan article but really nails it for me. As with this article, it is true. Despite how much one tries to be objective, in the end it is the heart, especially when one feels that the deal stinks. That is the same regardless of who they support.

PAP will be voted out one day: MM Lee
IN HIS new book which launches today, Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew spoke about the possibility of Singapore's ruling party being voted out.
This guy is good. One of the better political speech I've heard in this GE. A good mix of concerns, actions and showmanship. Those staying in the East Coast should listen. I just wise WP will modify their logo. Nobody makes this old style hammer anymore. Can they engage an art house to create a better one? Just like PAP should engage a PR firm for their candidates.

When the parliament was dissolved and this election process started I came in thinking that after the 2011 General Election, the incumbent has made quite of few positive changes (probably also due to what happened in 2011) and it would be interesting to see how this GE will turn out. What I never expect is stress, especially in the social media. The intensity and anger of the opposition supporters coupled by the almost similar fervent supporters of the incumbent makes the situation extremely daunting this time round and everyday I dread opening my FB updates. So I am not surprise that a first time voter told me that he plans to void his vote. That's not right. It is every one's right and duty to be part of the democratic process (unless we become like China with it's one party and go back to what we are doing). Rants from the oppositions nor the condescending advice from the incumbent supporters is not going help those confused first timers. Rational non-partisan views for better understanding are hard to find but I the closest I feel is from yawning bread, kind of like reading a book about religions rather than the religious itself. He has a three part views on this election (third is not out yet). Hope this will help to better understand better because one will never ever get it straight from any of the parties.
